Artistic career

Gaetano Posterino was born in Cosenza / Italy. He began his dance education in 1981 in Italy, from 1985 to 1989 he graduated with a scholarship and successfully at the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto.

He speaks six languages ​​fluently (Italian, German, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish). 

 

 

Work as choreographer, artistic director and ballet master


Parallel to his career as a dancer Gaetano Posterino is working as artistic director, choreographer and ballet master for numerous ballet companies, theatres and festivals since 1995. Main companies:

  • 2001-2004: Guest Choreographer at the International May Festival Wiesbaden / Germany
  • 2004-2007: Choreographer in Residence at Wiesbaden Ballett of Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden / Germany
  • 2004-2011: Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of the International Dance Theatre Reutlingen / Germany
  • 2008-2010: Choreographer in Residence at Theatre Augsburg / Germany
  • Since 2002: Artistic Director and Choreographer of Posterino Dance Company

Furthermore Gaetano Posterino is working as freelance choreographer within numerous engagements.

 

 

 

International and successful career as a ballet dancer


From 1989 onwards, following his graduation he started his career in Italy with the Ballet L'Ensemble de Micha Van Hoecke, Balletto di Toscana and at the National Opera House in Catania. Then Gaetano Posterino danced on an international scale for various well-known ballet companies as soloist, first soloist and guest dancer.

His carreer lead him on stages in more than 100 countries. He was performing roles in choreographic works of e.g. Oscar Araiz, Elgi Tomasson, Derek Daine, Richard Wherlock, Pablo Ventura, Enrico C. Musmeci, Peter Schaufuss, James Sutherland, Nils Christe, Ben van Cauwenbergh, Boris Trailine, Tarek Assan, Antonio Gomes, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, Inbal Pinto, Ed Wubbe, Stephan Thoss and Gaetano Posterino. Among the performances were well-known classical repertoire pieces as well as modern and contemporary works.   

 

 

 

Social commitment


With his art Gaetano Posterino supports also social projects.

Objectives are mainly fundraising or the involvement of mentally retarded people into the creation of art.
